Pasture for Life is for everyone. Whether you're a farmer, landowner, chef, butcher, or food citizen, you have a part to play in the move towards pasture-based farming systems that are better for the UK's food future.

Back pasture-based systems

Pasture for Life is a community interest company. That means that we exist to promote the adoption and appreciation of pasture-based systems for our network of farming industry professionals and food citizens. We offer services that keep our mission alive — from membership and certification to consultancy and events. But, as a nonprofit, we need your support to grow.

It’s good news that citizens are more interested in the origins of their food. As a nation, we know we should be eating ‘better,’ but there is a lack of clarity around what this actually means. What should I be looking for? And where can I find it?

That’s why our quest for supply chain fairness and transparency goes further than our membership and certification.

Whether we’re petitioning the government to provide a more robust definition of ‘grass-fed’ or working with other organisations stepping out to defend Britain’s farms, we’re demanding systemic change, both from the farm upwards, and from governance down.

Your donations are what allow us to continue our work.

Fund

We have set ourselves ambitious financial targets in our Business Plan for 2025-2030. These are of an order of magnitude greater than we have previously been given, and we need new funders to stand a chance of making it happen.

This whole budget and strategy depends on our ability to raise grant funding as a source of revenue. This will allow us to turn the growth we have experienced over the past years in our projects (see our Annual Report) into core programmes that we use to develop earned income and with it, stability and greater financial resilience.

It is vital that this next five year funding period allows us to fully fledge as an organisation — as in, not requiring grant funding to survive soon after the end of the period — and it may be that some level of surplus during the period helps us achieve that. But in general, as a nonprofit endeavour, we aim to deliver impact from our grant funding and it will be spent in delivering impact.

We have a package of products that we are seeking funding for from public or private organisations. These include:

  • In-person and online Pasture and Profit programme
  • On-farm events
  • Mentoring
  • Consulting

We also continuously seek research funding to power our understanding and expertise. Please contact our Technical Director, Nikki, with research funding opportunities.

With thanks to the following organisations for providing grants, expertise, venues and time for the development of Pasture for Life:
